Can you think of a better way to spend  a Thursday afternoon in mid winter?

rum race

Keeping ahead of the pack, Bill Falconer leading the fleet to North Head and looking like he’s enjoying it! Winter is often the best time to go sailing, clear weather, good breeze and often only a handful of other boats on the harbour.

Bring your Stewart Rum Racing, or come for a sail with us on one of the fleet. It’s a great way to learn the basics of racing and meet other Stewart 34 owners,  contact Cherry for more details

Stewart 34 Class Winter Dinner

For all Stewart 34 owners, association members, family, crew and friends we are holding a winter dinner at the RNZYS Quarterdeck restaurant from 7.00 p.m. Friday 18th of July.

For those who are keen to sail beforehand, there is Rum Race at 4.00 p.m. that will be finished before 6 so you can get scrubbed up for the festivities! The Squadron has a long ongoing history with the Stewarts and have kindly given us a very special rate for meals and drinks, it’s also our chance to show them our support. Let Cherry know how many will be coming and we will see you there!

SSANZ Triple Series 2014

Title Image: Pelagian, Psychic and Promise heading around the back of Rangitoto in the 2013 race.
It’s SSANZ time again with the first race on July 12.  Last year the races were held in all conditions from a drifter through to a serious blow, so its a great way to test your skill in boat handing and coordination (remember what its like to be on bow!). With 8 Stewarts last year, we are well represented with our own division. Enter online at the SSANZ site

The Stewart 34 Book

For the 50th anniversary of the class, George Backhus wrote and published the essential guide to the Stewart 34, its history, it’s people and it’s many triumphs. George interviewed past and present owners then compiled a vast amount of information not only on the class, but on each individual boat.

If you’re an owner, crew member or have been involved in the class then this book is a must have! With the original print run sold out, its now only available as a digital download for a small donation by contacting George  he has also kindly given permission to view it online here at the Stewart 34 site by clicking on the book to the left.
